Delia and Tyrel were married at a private residence in Kelowna, BC. in August under the hot summer sun, Delia has some smoking tips for other DIY brides considering doing their own wedding flowers, take a read if you’re contemplating going this route!

Tips I would give to someone that is planning on DIYing their wedding flowers:
Get some inspiration beforehand of what you want it to look like and try and designate someone talented to help you out with it. I definitely thought I could do it but there is so much running around to do the days before the wedding that there is no time for that. My maid of honour and aunt took over and did an absolutely amazing job.
Why did you decide to DIY your wedding flowers?
Definitely chose to DIY due to cost.
Did you DIY anything else in your wedding?
Feels like we DIYed a lot. From spray painting plate chargers, to hand made signs, building our own arbour, setting up the entire site, hauling woodchips for months before. We made our own cocktails, charcuterie boards, name plates, went around picking up van loads of weeds that were the perfect colour, and the list goes on. I am sure to some this is nothing, but it felt like a lot! I am just glad for all the help and support we had, and we really tried to just make it fun!
What was the vibe of the wedding?
I was going for something a little more elegant for the wedding, but due to the venue it also became rustic. I feel we had a good balance of the two though!
What was your favorite part of the day?
My favorite part was when the ceremony was over and we got to relax and spend the day with our loved ones. I wouldn’t do anything differently. The day was perfect.
Anything else memorable about the DIY experience?
You may cringe at this, but I also spray painted my flowers haha. Of course not the ones I got from you, those were too beautiful. But I also got some white roses and carnations from costco and we were spray painting them with my terracotta colour. It worked out really well!
