Sarah’s Review:

I am so impressed with how everything came together! Thank you so much for all your help making sure I ordered everything I needed and for all the advice on how to make things run smoothly. I am so happy with how easy the whole process was from ordering, shipping and unboxing all the flowers and greenery. I also was able to have the flowers and decor I dreamed of and through You Floral I saved $2100. The flowers were all in great condition and lasted so well even in the cold. I was nervous about my bouquet turning yellow but the flowers still looked perfect the next day even after being out in the cold for several hours for photos.  I cannot thank you enough for helping me with everything, I was able to still have the flowers I had dreamed of and stay in my budget as well. We made the boutineers, bouquets, cake decor, all the loose greenery, signage decor and then we used the greenery for the arches but did end up using faux flowers as we made it ahead of time and weren’t sure how the flowers would last. We also added the extra baby’s breath to our garlands on the tables as we weren’t sure how the flowers would last.

DIY projects for the day:

We made the bridal party bouquets, boutonnieres, signage decor, and arch arrangements. I also made all the table numbers, signage, and the mirror seating chart.

Couple’s personal story:

We have been together for 6 years now and met through his younger sister who tried to keep us apart by telling both of us that we were seeing someone when we asked about each other, although we were both single at the time. We reconnected a few months after meeting when he asked me on a date and the rest is history. We now live on a farm in Central Alberta where we have two dogs and lots of wide open space. He proposed at sunset on the top of a river valley where we frequently walk the dogs in the summertime. We were fortunate enough to be able to have our wedding at such a beautiful venue and only 5 minutes away from home at the Sweet Haven Barn.

Location and venue details:

Sweet Haven Barn- Huxley Alberta

Sweet Haven Barn is a unique farm venue surrounded by beautiful country landscapes in the heart of Central Alberta. Located roughly 70 minutes from Calgary and only 45 minutes from Red Deer and Olds, the timeless barn is a place where you can escape the busy city and surround yourself with nature. With a combination of warm vintage lighting and rich woodwork, it provides a variety of options to comfortably host 200 guests.

The inspiration behind the day + design:

My theme was rustic elegance. I wanted to have decor that would be classic, somewhat vintage, and would age well. The venue itself is stunning so I looked for decor that would compliment the vintage barn wood.

Favorite memories of the day:

Reading our vows privately during our first look and being able to have that special moment together. Also having all our close friends and family there to celebrate with us was truly a gift.

Music choices:

  • Humble and Kind- Tim McGraw (Parents Entrance)
  • Can’t Help Falling In Love” by Kina Grannis (Bridal Party entrance)
  • Boys Growing Up- Corey Kent (Groomsmen Entrance)
  • Steady Heart- Kameron Marlowe (First Dance)
  • My Wish- Rascal Flatts (Father-Daughter Dance)
  • Thought You Should Know- Morgan Wallen (Mother-Son Dance)

I walked down the Isle to Kina Grannis’s version of my parent’s wedding song “Can’t Help Falling In Love” by Elvis Presley, it was a very special moment that I was able to share with my dad and I will cherish it forever.

Advice for brides planning now:

Take time to enjoy the planning process, it is a big task organizing everything so if you can break it up it will be less overwhelming. Don’t sweat the small stuff it truly doesn’t matter at the end of the day, you are getting married to your best friend and celebrating your commitment to each other.
