Lauren and Noah’s wedding in Edmonton was a perfect mix of elegance and personal touch. Their burgundy-themed bridal party paired beautifully with fresh, garden-inspired DIY florals. Using a thoughtful selection of blooms like bupleurum, eucalyptus, green lisianthus, Queen Anne’s lace, carnations, and hanging amaranthus, they created soft, organic arrangements that felt natural and romantic. Simple, stylish, and truly their own—this wedding is proof that DIY florals can be both meaningful and stunning.

What Made You Decide to DIY?

I was after a very unique look. I came across this reference and loved the rustic, yet elevated look of this large arrangement. It wasn’t very flower forward, so I thought doing it ourselves would be manageable (and it was!). Unlike Costco, YouFloral offered many bulk options. I was grateful for Sarah’s keen eye in helping me determine what was in the original reference photo, and I appreciated her recommendations on which other florals would complement this inspiration.

Any tips for others who want to DIY:

Make sure the vessels/vases you are using are meant to hold water! We learned this the hard way a few days before the wedding. Many of our table arrangements were in porous, ceramic vases from Michaels, which are apparently meant for dried decor – not real florals. Thankfully, my husband and friends are crafty. Noah sprayed seal-all on the interior of the vases, and my friends found test tubes (yes, test tubes) to put our larger stemmed flowers into. The vases needed a coaster for the day, and plenty of refilling on that hot summer day, but overall, they made a beautiful addition to our celebrations!
