Why Lindsay Chose to DIY Her Wedding Flowers

When we asked Lindsay what inspired her to take the DIY route for her wedding florals, her answer perfectly captured the heart of what makes DIY weddings so special:

“I ended up going the DIY route for a couple of different reasons. First, we knew it was a place we could save on our budget by going DIY. I knew I wanted lots of variety in the floral and lots of greenery to enhance the garden vibe at our venue.

Second, I love DIY and the whole process behind creating something. In fact, I made and planned all our decor myself, with a little help from family & friends. I loved being able to select all the varieties, colors and quantities of the flowers and greenery myself (I actually had quite the process, that involved a lot of research and a couple different spreadsheets and power points haha). Seeing the whole vision come together once the flowers arrived and we started putting arrangements together was so rewarding. There was nothing more satisfying than walking into the venue and seeing all the hard work pay off.”

We absolutely love Lindsay’s enthusiasm! Her words remind us that DIY isn’t just about saving money — it’s about creating memories, expressing what you imagine into your big day!

Lindsay and Cole’s flower selection was a vibrant mix of soft pastels, cheerful pops of color, and lush greenery — perfect for that bright, meadow-inspired look.

Lindsay’s Tips for Other DIY Brides

Lindsay shared some amazing advice for other couples thinking about creating their own wedding flowers:

“Honestly, if you’re thinking about it or have any hesitation — just do it. I thoroughly enjoyed the whole process of DIY’ing our flowers. If you aren’t ordering one of the packages, and just ordering bulk flowers like we did, take a few days before you finalize the order. I left our order in the cart for a day or two and ended up making slight changes a few times before submitting.

If you aren’t sure about quantity — ask. This was probably what I struggled with most. I was so worried we wouldn’t have enough, but we actually ended up with some extra. Read the descriptions on the website when looking at specific flowers. I found the flower details and care tips so helpful when deciding what was right for our wedding. I looked at lots of inspiration photos and made note of the flowers, greenery, and styles I was drawn to. That made ordering so much easier.”

We couldn’t agree more with Lindsay’s advice! Her thoughtful planning and attention to detail paid off beautifully.
